Lakes Pullover

I came across a video by @sydneythach on TikTok detailing her modifications for the Lakes Pullover by Ozetta. I loved the look of her finished sweater (inspired by the Babaa Sweater No. 51) and wanted to make it for myself! My Ravelry project page can be found here.

Pattern

The Lakes Pullover by Ozetta is a super straightforward, easy to follow, and well-written pattern. It has really thoughtful short row shaping around the neck and and includes many aspects that elevate a knit, such as Italian tubular bind off. (I no longer find Italian bind off a pain, and am in fact a loyalist now). The pattern corresponds to a bust measurement of 30" to 58".

Yarn

I used Lionbrand Fisherman's Wool for this project. Fisherman's Wool is such an affordable, 100% wool staple yarn and after knitting this sweater I was asking myself why I don't use it more. The yarn cost was $44 for this project. It's a little scratchier and stiffer than perhaps more expensive yarns, but wool has never been irritating to me and I think it's appropriate for this kind of pattern.

Knitting

I loved knitting this! Interesting construction for the first half, mindless stockinette for the second. I finished it in three months, which is pretty quick for me.

Two resources I especially loved while knitting:

1. This blog post about maintaining consistent tension in stockinette when knitting flat vs. in the round

2. This youtube video about picking up a neat folded collar. I really, really love how the collar turned out on this sweater.

Final Thoughts

This sweater is such a classic. In a few years I'll probably knit another one in a different color. 10/10 experience.
